Fusion splicers
Fusion splicing is the process of fusing or welding two optical fibres together. Usually by employing an electric arc.
It is an essential instrument for outdoor and indoor fibre network installation and maintenance. It is the most widely used method of splicing as it provides the lowest loss count, the least reflectance, and creates the strongest and most reliable join between the two fibres. The fibre alignment process (this takes place before the actual fusion itself) is a crucial step, in being able to carry out a correct splice. Having a clean well serviced splicer, is essential to be able to conduct this alignment process. Within our portfolio we have models able to perform the following: core alignment, clad alignment, active clad alignment, and mass (ribbon) fusion. We offer splicer kits from two of the major manufacturers, Fujikura and Sumitomo. All of our splicers are always supplied with a high precision cleaver, and fibre stripper. In addition, we also offer the ANT Telent crimptool, which is available in our webshop. Our webshop also features many other useful supplies.
