Economy fibre launch cable with an SC/APC connection on one side and LC/APC on the other. The optical fibre is G.652.D singlemode and 1000 meters long, the input and output fibres are 70 cm. long. The lightweight hard case can be closed with a latch.

A Fibre launch cable eliminates the dead zone that occurs when using an OTDR (optical time domain reflectometer) and guarantees accurate and reliable measurements. It is also called launch or receive cable, launch box, pulse suppressor, dead zone box or fibre ring. According to the ITU-T G650.3 recommendations the OTDR testing should be carried out using a launch fibre that is long enough to allow measurement of the first connector in the link. Preferably a similar length cable should be connected at the end of the fibre under test to allow correct measurement of the loss of the connector at the far end of the link. It is important to note that the fibre of the launch cable should match the fibre under test (type, core size…).
