What calibration standards does RentalTec follow?
All calibrations performed by RentalTec are traceable to international standards. Our calibration procedures follow manufacturer specifications and are carried out by trained lab engineers with direct vendor certification from EXFO, VIAVI, Jetting, and Rosenberger. After every calibration, you receive a valid certificate documenting the results and traceability of the measurements.
How long is a calibration certificate valid?
The standard validity period for a calibration certificate is 12 months, which aligns with most industry and manufacturer recommendations. However, some sectors such as aerospace and defence may require shorter intervals. If your project or quality management system requires a specific calibration cycle, contact us and we can accommodate your requirements.
Can I request a fresh calibration before my rental equipment is dispatched?
Yes. If your project requires a current calibration date, you can request a fresh calibration at the time of your rental order. We will calibrate the instrument in our in-house lab and provide a new certificate before dispatch. This is especially common for customers working on compliance-sensitive projects where the calibration date needs to fall within the project period.
Does RentalTec perform data wiping and factory resets before dispatching equipment?
Yes. As part of our standard restock process, all equipment is returned to factory default settings before being dispatched to the next customer. This includes clearing any stored measurement data, user profiles, test configurations, and network settings. This ensures data security between rental customers and guarantees that you receive the instrument in a clean, ready-to-use state.
Can RentalTec repair and calibrate equipment that I own?
Yes. Our repair and calibration services are available for both our rental fleet and customer-owned equipment. Whether you need a one-off repair, a scheduled calibration, or an ongoing service contract for larger fleets, our in-house lab can handle it. As an authorized service centre for EXFO and VIAVI, we can perform manufacturer-level repairs on those brands without needing to send your equipment abroad.
Which brands and equipment types can RentalTec service?
Our lab engineers are trained and certified to service equipment from EXFO, VIAVI, Jetting, Rosenberger, Fujikura, Sumitomo, Fluke, and Anritsu, among others. We service a wide range of instrument types including OTDRs, fusion splicers, cleavers, optical spectrum analysers, network testers, cable and antenna analysers, PIM analysers, blowing machines, and RF alignment tools. If your specific instrument is not listed, contact us and we will confirm whether we can service it.
What is the typical turnaround time for a repair or calibration?
Turnaround time depends on the type of service and the complexity of the repair. Standard calibrations are typically completed within a few working days. Repairs vary depending on whether spare parts are needed, but we aim to keep turnaround as short as possible. For urgent situations, let us know when you submit your RMA request and we will prioritise accordingly. If the repair will take longer than expected, we can offer a rental replacement to keep you operational.
How do I submit a repair or calibration request?
All service requests start with an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) form, which you can find on this page or download as a PDF. Once submitted, our service department will contact you with a service number, instructions for shipping, and an estimated timeline. Without an RMA number, we cannot initiate the service process. If you have a large fleet that requires regular servicing, ask us about a dedicated service contract.
Does RentalTec offer service contracts for recurring maintenance?
Yes. If you manage a larger fleet of test and measurement equipment that requires regular calibration and maintenance, we can set up a dedicated service contract. This allows you to schedule calibrations in advance, ensure continuous compliance, and benefit from preferential turnaround times. Contact your local RentalTec office to discuss a contract tailored to your fleet size and service intervals.
What happens if my equipment cannot be repaired?
If our lab engineers determine that a repair is not economically viable or the instrument has reached end of life, we will inform you before proceeding and discuss alternatives. Depending on your situation, we can offer a rental replacement to keep your operations running, a preowned equivalent from our stock, or help you source a new instrument through our manufacturer partnerships.
